Is the stock cpu cooler enough to unlock AMD Phenom II X2 555's cores?
So, I just built a computer, and I have AMD Phenom II X2 555 installed. I know that the other two cores can be unlocked, but I only have the stock cooler, and was wondering if it would be safe to unlock the two cores? I don't plan on overclocking, just unlocking the cores
It will be fine for just unlocking the cores its only when you try to crank them up that will give you an overheating problem. Also note...you may not be able to unlock both cores If one or both are bad (that's why there locked out otherwise they would have sold it as a quad core!) If one doesn't work, just go to the other one. Don't be surprised if they work unevenly...again that's why there locked out!
