I have chosen a Radeon HD 6850 as my graphics card, but im thinking of changing it to a Gtx 460
Would the Gtx 460 be a better option? Its $50 cheaper but I am not sure if it would be as good to game with as a 6850
yes the only issue comes when you want to crossfire of SLi cards, this mobo only supports crossfire
i have the 6850 and runs all my games silky smooth maxed out even gta 4 that i was impressed by considering how badly optimized that game is. also stable and no extra heat with a 25mhz overclock then again i would expect this to run at 900mhz like its bigger brother if i really wanted it too with some underclocking of the memory clock
the 460 and 6850 come to roughly the same price you must be looking at the 768mb version of the 460 that is a APPALLING CARD. the 1 gig version of 460 and 6850 perform very similar sometimes the 6850 coming out on top sometimes the 460 it varys frmo game to game and of course whether the game is optimized for ati or for nvidea
im getting sick of people talking about physx. ati has physics algorithms and had them long before nvidea did and now have exactly the same ones. fluid, gravity, bullet etc. alot of physics alorithms are in directx 10 and 11 etc already built in physx is just things that nvidea have added to allow it easier for game designers to do certain things but now ati has added bullet physics to their 5000 and 6000 series drivers they are even in terms of how much physics they can use.
its pretty obvious looks at battlefield bad company 2 that physx is not needed and is being phased out considering EVERY bit of scenery is destroyable and this is something physx said only it can do but BFBC2 just used directx 10 and 11 to make it possible easily
with the introduction of directx 11 especially has made phsyx a bit pointless basically since by simply mixing tessalation and bullet physx ati and nvidea cards can do basically anything involving physics and of course fluid physics for the sea and stuff
