'HELP'! on the Apple iMac / Mac OS X Leopard?
I have nevr used Apple PCs, so i knowww nothingggg of them!
Today i saw the most beautiful PC in a store and i could not leave it alone! in fact, i had fallen in love with this machine!
Please can anyone advise me on them and the operating system it uses (Mac OS X Leopard) Some of the questions running thru my poor brain are things like, will it be compatible with the Drivers, for things like my old Scanner, My Scandisk Memory sticks, and what about the Photo progs ive always used with Windows, will they load onto the iMac?? The only thing i didnt like was the mouse seemed a bit slow to the finger touch, but im sure i can maybe adjust this. I also didnt like the wire with the keyboard and mouse, i would have preferd Wireless! or am i missing something?! Well, any advice, tips etc will be closely read by myself, and i will be grateful for all your comments out there!
I just converted (well "just" in January) too. We still have the two Windows machines in the house, and I'm typing now on the MBP. Have no fears. Memory sticks work fine. HP all-in one works fine. CDs work fine.
You will find you need to fetch different versions of software. (In our case, Photoshop is costly$$$, groan, but our current course instructor opines, too late for us, that most folks can get by with the less expensive Photoshop Elements or the free Gimp). Check also a product called CrossoverMac for your software. Still, different versions of your software, but no shortage of possibilities. No fear.
I have a cheap ol' ($10) Logitech wireless mouse. It transferred over (no software) just fine, immediately. Then, in very short order, I got used to, and much preferred, the "track pad" on the MBP.
Have no fears, pard. About a two-week learning curve. Learn yourself some of those MANY keyboard shortcuts. (And gee whiz the hard one for me shouldn't have been: when you're pulling out the thumb drive, click "eject" first so the system knows, first. I'm a ninny. Laugh AT me, not with me.)

Oh, and P.S. I as a long-time Windows veteran was tempted to get the superduper souped up-tothemax Apple. Then I priced it. Gulp. Toned down. Glad I did. MacOSX is not nearly so demanding on memory or hard drive as Windows. I'm running on 2G and the mid-range hard drive. It's a speedy little goober. I have room to upgrade to 4G if needed.
