Applying thermal compound to CPU?
Recently my laptop has been getting very very hot and has caused a massive decrease in performance. After taking a look inside it seems that the thermal pads that was on the CPU have actually melted, so this needs to be replaced. I have purchased some artic silver and need to know the basics on how to get the best performance from the processor using the artic silver.
- How do I go about cleaning the single core processor in the laptop?
- How should I apply the arctic silver thermal compound to the processor?
- Will the poor thermal pad be the main problem that is causing my laptop to get so hot?

clean it with rubbing achol and some ear thingys. to apply just put a pea sized amount and it will spread on its own, thermal pads are nowhere near as good as thermal paste.
