Why won't my PC sound play on HDTV?
Easiest way to ask this is to just tell you my setup, then my problem.
I have my PC Video Card (ATI RADEON HD 4350) connected to my HDTV (26" Vizio VA26L) via HDMI cable. I also have a speaker/subwoofer system hooked up to my tv through the simple headphone jack. Normal tv sound and games all play sound through those speakers, but my computer won't, and says that there is no sound device detected.
When I take the wire for my speakers and hook it directly to my PC, it works fine, but I thought that HDMI was supposed to carry sound through it too. I will probably end up buying an extra set of speakers just for the computer anyways, but until I do I was wondering if this is normal, or if I'm just missing something.
Also, my tv has another headphone port on it, if I connect a double sided heaphone cable from my PC to that jack, will it play through the speakers that are hooked into the other headphone port?
I'm guessing you have to go in to your BIOS which requires you to press an F key button when your computer boots up.
From there, try disabling your motherboard's onboard sound sound.
Once you do this, your graphics card should become the default sound card.
