Kingston 2 x 2Gb DDR3 1066 MHz CL7 or Kingston 2 x 2Gb DDR3 1333 MHz CL9 question?
OK here it goes, i am using now a P5KC Mo-Bo with 2Gb of memory DDR2 - 2 x 1Gb of Kingmax KLED48F-A8KI5 (1066 MHz) but it's only working @ 800 MHz because i am not a overclocking fan.
Now I want to make an upgrade to DDR3. What should I choose, 2 x 2Gb KVR1333D3N9/2G (Kingston 2Gb 1333 MHz CL9) or 2 x 2Gb KVR1066D3N7/2G (Kingston 2Gb 1066 MHz CL7).
On the Kingston website it says that my P5KC supports both chips. My choice would go to for 2 x 1333 MHz memory chip (for witch my P5KC has a native support, or at least the specs indicates that) but i need second options. Should I go for MHz or for latency? Price dose not maters, as is the same for both chips. And yes, my Asus P5KC runs the latest bios 1203.
Thank you !
Your asking yourself the wrong question. Instead of nit picking latency issues, you should be more concerned with getting your RAM in kits as to take advantage of the dual channel feature. Kinston RAM modules are numbered as "K2" meaning that they are RAM kits meant for motherboards that support dual channel RAM. An example product number might be like: KVR533D2N4K2/2G. Which means that it is a 533MHz bus RAM with dual channel support and a capacity of 2GB. And I hope you have a 64 bit operating system as well, or your just wasting your time. 32 bit operating systems will not use anything over 4Gb no matter what is installed.
