How would this software run if I had 64MB RAM with a requirement of 256MB RAM for the software?
I have to use an OLLLLLLD backup NEC Versa SX notebook because my Compaq does not have a PCMCIA slot.
It just so happens that my Compaq with 2GB RAM doesn't have the PCMCIA slot that I need for my USB 2.0 Card Bus Adapter, but the OLLLLLLLD NEC Versa with only 64MB does.
The video capture software requires 256MB RAM.
Since the NEC Versa is so old, I don't really care for experimental risk, but I just wan't an idea beforehand how the NEC would react.
Oh and with everything stock on the NEC notebook, I was wondering if I could easily upgrade the OS from it's current... -_- ...Win95.
Here's an analogy.
Try to fit 4 gallons of milk in a 1 gallon jug.
You're trying to fit 4 times the capacity of data into the storage space you have available. There's one thing that makes this theoretically possible, but definitely not plausible.
The system will begin relying on Virtual Memory, however this will make the entire system dog slow. Forget about video capture as well, as that depends on hard drive write speed. With your hard drive already busy trying to write RAM contents, there's no bandwidth left to save video data.
Expect the system to hard lock for hours, if the program even runs.
