The computer is a Dell Inspiron 1300. The problem was a cracked palm rest some one offered to replace it for free (I think I got what I paid for) I watched them take all the screws out, remove the hinge cover and the keyboard. When they attempted to un hook the mouse touch pad thing The white thing that the wire was connected to came off completely. They looked a little worried but unhooked the wire and put the white connecter thing back in the spot it was in and it stayed there. The new palm rest was attached and everything was reconnected and the computer works fine except now the mouse touch pad or buttons do not work at all. Can the mouse be fixed??
I would suggest going to the Control Panel, clicking on Mouse and then look and see what devices are activated, and which are deactivated... If the touchpad is activated, but, not working, then you need to go ahead and get a mouse.. which, I use instead of the pad, anyway..
