Does anyone know where to find a DV Cable to USB for JVC GR-780U?
I need help finding a DV cable for this camera model that can plug into my computer with USB. I am tired of recording from the tape to VHS then burn a DVD from that and ripping the DVD to my computer cuz it takes too much time. HELP
Lots of places - but please do not waste your money because it will not allow the video importing like you think it will do.
If your computer has an available expansion slot then you should be able to add a proper firewire port. That way, assuming the operating system can handle it, you can connect the camcorder's 4-pin DV port (not USB) to the computer's firewire port (4, 6 or 9-pin depending on what you add - and not a USB port) with a firewire cable (not USB).
Since you did not tell us what computer, we have no way to know if adding a firewire port is possible.
In this context, DV, firewire, IEEE1394 and i.LINK are all the same thing. And none are USB. The communications protocols are very different (USB is bursty; firewire streams) and are not interchangeable.
