is this graphic card compatible with the motherboard?
the motherboard is an ASUS M4A785TD-V evo and i am thinking of buying this and an nvidia geforce gt240 card along with other stuff for a custom pc for movies and media but one flaw i found is that it is apparent that AMD's 785G chipset isnt compatible with Nvidia's cards or is that just a myth
and would you say that mother board is futureproof if you can can you quickly check if the specs i have chosen for the build are good enough to get me through the next couple of years?
sorry i know repetetive but this time it's not how good it'll run it is about reliablility and future proofness
the mobo stated above/
AMD phenom iiX2 AM3 socket 550 3.1 ghz black ed. i know bad caches but oh well
two hitachi 500gb HDD's incase one dies
cooling by arctic freezer
NvidiaGeForce gt240 with win 7 capabilities
4GB corsair DDR3 RAM ladida
500W 80+PSU 24 pin
Yes it's myth, but seeing as you're building a very middle of the road PC, you might as well use an AMD/ATI card of about the same value as the GT 240 and possibly get slightly better performance.
Future proofing? Well for the couple of years you mention - yes, it should see you through the next 2-3 years. There's no USB 3 on that board, but the rest looks OK and there's very few things that use USB 3 anyway so it's not really a problem.
The 500 W PSU looks a bit weak if you're using two hard drives, I'd probably go with a 6 or 700 W one
