How do I best record TV shows and watch them on my laptop on an airplane? (DVR/PVR/TIVO/TV Tuner/Media Center)

Please provide details (equipment and services) on any of these choices. Best, least complicated and/or least expensive solutions are sought. Links to products and cost estimates would be appreciated. (TV has cable/satellite box; laptop has DVD writer, PC Card & USB2, but no Firewire or TV Tuner).

1) Tivo? how to transfer to laptop?
2) USB TV Tuner with Windows Media Center?
3) DVD recorder?
4) Other?

Okay the best or cheapest way is to purchase a PCMCIA TV tuner card for your laptop. Here is an example I found on Ebay now. I purchased this exact model and it comes with WinDVR software for recording. I picked a listing that is completed so you can see about what the ending cost is.

Once you set it up on your laptop you can set it up to record from your TV, Tivo, Cable box via an Antenna, Coaxial cable, or composite RCA cables. I do it all the time from my Tivo. There is no extra things you would need to purchase.Hope this helps
