I cannot figure out why my Carrier ptac system will not run the fan on auto. It runs on fan in heat&cool modes
I have replaced the fan relay,reversing valve relay,heating relay,run capacitor and thermostat and still the fan operates in fan mode only.the fan will not turn on on auto.the compressor turns on but not the fan in both cooling and heat.the heat pump has aux. heat strip. I know you said you replaced the thermostat however that is definately the problem.
I know thats it because the fan runs by energizing G which goes to the fan relay. You said you could turn the fan on therefore I know the fan relay works. Its just not getting energized during heating or cooling which is suppsed to come from the thermostat.
Check the thermostat you put on and make sure it is configured for heat pump operation.
