My problem revolves around the operating temp of my P4 LGA 775 processor. at idle: 40degC at max: 65 degC which i think is too hot
i took out the nozzle and replaced it with a 3rd exhaust fan. i noticed that the third fan was sucking waht ever cool air is coming inside so i decided to move it to the front panel to improve the draw in of cooler air.
i did not put back the nozzle? do you think i should put it back? i rad somewhere that it helps improve the movement of cooler air into the heatsink fan. that is why i arrived with the above question:
does the fan on top of the heat sink draws hot air from the sink or pushes cooler air into the heatsink?
Yes screw the cowl (nozzle) back into it's original location, always mount all heatsink fans and all others such that they will always DRAW air. One, this best displaces and removes the heat as intended, and two, keeping fans exhausting inside air outward allows intake of cooler outside air from smaller openings in the chassis and case as well as avoiding drawing more dust into the interior.
