Is my Motherboard or CPU bad? Or something else entirely.?
When I turn the power on, the CPU fan and Power supply fan both come on, the DVD and CD drives lights come on, as well as the general power lights on the front of the tower. No beeps.
I cannot tell if the HD spins and have no tester.
My Monitor stays Black and after a minute, flashes no signal.
It seems if the problem were with the Hard Drive only, I would still get a blue bios-like screen? or is that with pre-NT Windows OS.
I currently have XP pro with an AMD xp 2800+, socket A/462. (so the Video card is built in.)
The MOBO is only $25. Roughly equal to a cheap video card.
Am I on the right path, or missing something completely?
No beeps = Bad Motherboard? Typically?
Pulled both cables from the HD, No Change. Replaced power, kept IDE unplugged, HD spins.
Still Black/No Signal screen.

Use a volt/ohm meter and see if you are getting power to the drive or connect the power cable to the cd drive and see if the door open and closes. If it doesn't then the power supply is defective.
Listen to the hard drive or put your hand on it to feel for vibration. If you feel something, then it is spinning up. Your computer description sounds too new to be a faulty mother board. Check for loose cables or cables hooked up backwards. (First sign is drive lights that stay on and don't turn off after a few seconds.)
You didn't say if it boots up or not? If it does then there is probably nothing wrong with the computer. My lap top takes time to boot up when turned on and it's only two months old.
Is this a store bought computer or one you upgraded?
