I have an HP pavilion dv1000. I went to a site called drivesolutions.com to look up info on my laptop. It said that I needed SODIMM 266MHz PC2100 DDR RAM and that it could take a max of 2GB. I went to newegg.com and bought (2 x 1GB) kingston RAM of the exact specs listed above. It even says right on the package that its 266MHz, DDR, pc2100. I took out the old 512MB (2 x 256MB) and replaced them with the 2 1GB's. After I had replaced battery and everything I turned it on. The screen would stay black and the power button starts to blink. It also makes a loud beeping noise.
I have tried everything I can think of, I took out 1GB and tried it, put 1GB and one old 256MB, the only thing that works is when the 2 originals are put back. If either of the 1GB are put in it doesn't work. I have also tried searching HP for BIOS updates but when it ran a search for updates for my model it didn't come up with any BIOS downloads.
