How do i edit videos videos recorded with instant dvd recorder?
I bought a dazzle platinum and it did notgive me an editing system only Instant Dvd Recorder and i made a vid but i cant edit it with movie maker need help now says format is unrecognizable or something and i cant record using movie maker it wont let me for some reason it says device not responing or something then it says close any apps but they are all closed even in the bar to lower right
The format the files are put into is MPEG-2. First of all some background.
Typically to make a DVD, you have to create video content, then encode it into MPEG-2. Then you send it to a program that formats it properly for DVD and adds menus. Then the resulting "formatting" is burned to a DVD. So to edit it, we have to unravel the DVD a bit. If you insert the DVD into a drive, you notice it has a Video_TS folder. This folder contains everything necessary to make a DVD play. If you look inside the folder, there are several files that are there. But noticiable, no MPEG-2 or .mpg files.
To extract the Mpeg 2 files, use a program called Mpeg Stream Clip (http://www.videohelp.com/tools/MPEG_StreamClip) should help. You will need to install quicktime alternative to get the MPEG-2 features.
File, open your Video_TS folder and select the largest file (look in details view). If it askes you to combine, choose yes. If it asks something about timecode, choose yes. Then choose file export as Mpeg-2. Now you have an Mpeg-2 file.
Your programs should be able to edit it now.
