how does a dual core cpu work?
how does a dual core cpu differ then a single core does it work buy adding 2.5 GH + 2.5GH in to 5 GH is that how it works and how it is different than a single core?
Dual core works by putting two processors into one chip and then link them together with sophisticated algorithms for handling the messages sent to it (that would be a very long explanation if i got into how it did those things). But dual core does not operate at 2x that of a single core. So you can't just equate a 2.5GHz dual core to 2.5+2.5=5GHz. Because programs send many commands that may be dependent on others the 2 cores will not always be fully utilized. At probably it's most effiicent a dual core processor may run a max of 80% faster than single core. Most of the time it won't come close to 80%, probably more like 50%.
