dual link vs single link dvi?
so i have a 2010 mac mini, and a samsung t220 widescreen monitor resolution 1680 x 1050.
i have 2 cables, one is dvi dual link, its also really thick and heavy, and the other is a normal dvi single link, light and thinner. now the mac mini has an adapter that is hdmi to dvi and the adapter and the monitor both fit the dual link dvi. im wondering if its neccessary to use the heavier cable or if theres no difference, because id prefer the single link cable because its about 1/2 the thickness. its a normal dvi cable
At resolutions up to 1920x1200, there is no difference. For higher resolutions you must use the DVI dual-link.
