CPU question with E4400.....help plsss?
I have an Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 processor with 3gb ram,a gigabyte motherboard and a GTS250.
When i remove the fan and heatsink from the CPU, there is some greyish stuff on the processor.
What is it.............it looks like clay but its not ...................so can anyone tell me wat it is??
IS there any way to purchase it ???
That is a TIM and also known as Thermal Interface Material or generally said as thermal paste.
To get rid the grey stuff and to put the new TIM. Just rub it slowly with a dry cloth then put a X shaped TIM at the CPU. (It should spread when you put the heatsink, and gently press back the heatsink to it's place and reattach the 3 pin CPU_FAN)
Use the Artic Silver 5 for better cooling performance. I hope this helped
