Problems with Roxio easy VHS to DVD converter?

My sister recently bought the program listed above hoping she would be able to save herself the time and money of buying all of her VHS tapes on new DVDs. She tried it for the first time a few days ago and the picture showed up fine but there was no sound coming out, just a loud fuzzy static. Is there any way she can fix this?

Also, some of the VHS tapes are too long to fit on a normal DVD. Can she use the dual layered DVDs for this?

for the sound i would recommend checking all of the connections between the VCR and computer sounds like either a bad cable, or cable connected improperly... also check the audio recording settings...

i would do a short test run before recording entire tapes, to ensure everything is connected properly, and all of the settings are correct...

as for the length of recording... you can increase the length of recording by reducing the quality of the file, or use dual layer DVDs...
