I am looking for a wi-fi adapter for my notebook computer, which did not come with a built-in adapter. I have already decided to go with an N-adapter but am having trouble deciding between a USB adapter or an Express Card adapter. A friend of mine told me that an Express Card would be better overall, but what do you recommend, in terms of price and, more importantly, quality and performance?
Also, is a 56Mbps speed adapter good for overall general use? I've found one online from Linksys (and is an Express Card one) which is in a reasonable price range (~$60) but I'm not sure whether it's a good speed.
As far as I know, both of them should work about the same. The advantage of a USB adapter is that you could use it on a desktop computer if there is already a wireless connection. The advantage of a card adapter is that they are less cumbersome. I bought a card adapter at Fry's for 10 dollars, so I suggest that you look for deals or lower prices. A couple of good places to look are the Friday Fry's adds, which are in most new papers, or at Slickdeals.net.
