I have an old full tower case which is working great except that the front power switch broke. So for a few years now I've had the bare wires sticking out of ventilation slots, and I touch the two wires together to boot.
I don't think there's any chance of replacing the power switch. This case is around 10 years old, and I don't know what the brand is. The only marking I see is "RIB004020 REV-1" on the back.
I don't want to buy another case. I like this one. Besides not wanting to spend $100-200 on a good new full tower case, I also don't want to spend the time moving everything to another case.
Any thoughts on what I can do with those wires? Is there something like a free-standing switch that I could stick the wires in and tape to the side of the case?
go to Radio Shack and tell them you need a "pushbutton momentary switch". 'momentary' is important.
just attach the 2 wires (preferably soldered) and find convenient place to mount. You can get industrious and drill a hole to mount if ... or if you don't care about asthetics, superglue it somewhere convenient.
