It is going to be my first Mac that I'll own! The thing is I currently own a Dell Latitude D610 with very high resolution "MATTE" screen. It is something I love in my current laptop since it is very little strain on the eyes. I wanted to know if getting the MBP with the anti glare coating is something that would dull down the excellent vibrancy of color? Also, does the reflection on the glossy screen (without anti glare) burn your eyes or hinder visibility in normal office lighting conditions in the day? Thanks all in advance for your answers!
I am in exactly the same situation you are, considering getting a 2.4 i5 MBP. I have done a lot of research both online and in-person in the Apple store, and I can tell you that the color is not affected much, and it still stays vibrant on the anti-glare screen. However, in the Apple store given all the various spotlights they have, you can really see the advantages that the anti-glare screen has over the glossy one, as you can actually always see the image on the screen with the anti-glare version, where it is quite distorted by reflections with the other one. Therefore you would benefit not only if you work outside, but also if you are at a desk or anywhere else where the light comes from behind or above you, and it may reflect on the glossy screen.
I have been using a 2009 MacBook with a glossy screen for awhile, but given the rather annoying reflections and the increase in performance, I believe the new MBP with anti-glare is a good option.
