its a very old desktop computer, and i only use it at home, i have a newer laptop thats i use a lot more when im on the run.
i bought some ram for the old desktop computer, specs:
windows 7 32bit
2.4ghz intel celeron
p4m266-8233 MSI mobo
two 512mb ram
256mb ati radeon 9550
directx 11
When i plug it in, the computer gives me a no ram beep, and nothing comes up on the monitor.
When I plugged one it, with original 512mb ram i was using, it can only detect the 512.
Do I need to jump my CMOS or whatever that is?

also, the POST screen, or that black screen with a lot of text when you turn on your computer, shows something about a "SDRAM" (if i plug in 512 aswell, which allows comp to actually start up), similiar to if you leave a usb in computer when you start up, it will show "8GB USB" or something amongst the wall of text.
the best thing to do is to check what kind of RAM your computer uses. if you said that your computer is kind of old but uses Win7 it's not that old. The website or your manual will tell you what kind of RAM you can put on your computer. look at the PC-####.
