really, all you need is a grain of rice sized drop onto the middle of the processor as it sits in the socket.
Place the heatsink firmly into place, but before you lock the clips or tighten any screws...gently twist the heatsink back and forth to spread the thermal paste over the proc.
No, more is not better, it will cause a bad heat transfer and make your proc overheat, plus you'll have thermal paste all over the processor and socket.
To little will cause the proc to overheat as well..
