I have a Toshiba Satellite A55-S1064. It has a Mobile Intel 915Gm Express Chipset with a Mobile Celeron 1.6ghz - 1mb L2 Cache Processor . I was Thinking about replacing it with a Pentium M Processor with 1.8ghz - 2mb L2 Cache.
After i replace it, Will the computer work just like it did before(but faster) or will it run at all? Will i need to update the software or BIOS?
I'm not going to research it for you, but it depends if the mobo supports it. You may have to flash the BIOS.
The mobo I have, although it supports dual core, required a BIOS flash when upgrading to dual core, because when it was purchased dual core did not exist.

I would assume so. In my situation I have an MSI motherboard. When it came out there were no dual core CPU's. Although a brand new identical board would have supported the CPU I planned to install, the BIOS version on my board would not support it. With the old CPU still installed, I flashed the BIOS to the newer version and put the new CPU in...no problems.
I would contact the manufacturer first to be sure. I'd hate to steer you in the wrong direction. I'm not real keen on laptops. But my feeling is yes, you'll be ok.
