Can I use another fan for my daughter's laptop?
This is the fan that's in her Asus V1S laptop right now:

We need to replace it, but it's kind of expensive for a laptop fan and I wondered if there was another more generic fan we could use in its place?
The problem you are going to find, is that these fans are not generic. Asus (and other companies) contract companies like Samsung to make these fans according to their specifications. Then only Asus uses them. So it isn't like there are a half dozen manufacturer's making fans for that model Asus laptop. There might be a company out there selling that same fan for less... but I couldn't find it either.
And that's not expensive for a laptop fan.
