I have a (fairly old) Acer TravelMate with a non shiny screen. every time I close the lid, power down or lower the brightness my screen turns a very girly pink colour for a while. it gradually fades back to the regular white you expect.
What is causing this? is there a way 2 fix it? and is it a symptom of something more chronic, like a dying LCD screen?
The backlight in a laptop is a very small fluorecent tube. When it starts to fail or the voltage is dropping it goes a pink to red colour. Unfortunately, the fix would be to have the tube changed which is quiet an expensive and difficult job as it is part of the screen. If care is not taken the screen will be damaged buring the changeover resulting in an expensive laptop repair.
