I would prefer not to have to replace the screen, I honestly would. The laptop is a Dell latitude CPx. The screen was cracked by my brother, who was angry over something and threw something at it. It's a small crack, visible only when the computer is on, and when it is, there's this ray of colors that speads down in a straight line from the puncture. I believe it's a pretty small crack, micrscopic, even. Please, tell me how to fix this. Please. I have the tools, if taking it apart is necessary. Thank you.
I've been researching, and I've seen various things about a protective plastic filter? I think I can replace that, but I need a bit more information, please.
I've worked on computers as a job for years as a certified technician and the last six I have been a Dell certified Tech. Having worked with 1000 or more Laptops I'll add to the group that the only solution is to replace the LCD. Now you may use the Laptop until you determine it's no longer suitable for your needs however, No way exist for it to be repaired by a user or even a Technician.
