Actually the replacement bulb I need is a Sony XL-2400. The bulb is a complete housed unit that sells for almost $200. There is some indication on the internet that a person might be able to purchase just the bulb if you can find out who makes them. That is what I need to know. Who manufactures the bulb used in the Sony XL-2000 bulb assembly?

I don't know how else to add another question. I really appreciate the sound advice and I could very well end up buying the complete bulb/cage assembly. Having said that, can either of you tell me who makes the bulbs in the XL-2400 and where I might find them? At least if I can get them, I can make a decision. If I can't get them, then I have no choice. Thanks.
You're better off getting it from SONY.....
If you decide to install a bulb, you had better be REAL good at Jigsaw puzzles, and have BODY OIL on your hands at all....Even a fingerprint can make the bulb die prematurely or Explode....and if it explodes, you may create an OPEN flame....and if that open flame gets to the Plastic cage......
You're done....your TV is done and you will have to deal with MORE than just the lamp......
At least with a SONY LAMP in it's cage, you can sleep soundly not worrying about a latent fire or a possible meltdown.....
