I am going to purchase either african dwarf frogs or the clawed ones. I'm going to get about 2 maybe 3. My tank does not have a lid, but a hood light with a flip up piece to feed them and whatnot. So majority of the tank is covered, excepet for the back where the cords from the heater and filter go through. The flip up piece of plastic is also loose and so all in all this isnt a totally secure lid. The man at the petstore told me it would work fine and they wouldnt get out, but Ive been researching and it seems as though they are escape artists.
First of all, I have had ADFs jump out of the water when there was a small opening on the back of my tank. They were dried up on the floor behind the tank when I found them after coming home.
Also, African CLAWED frogs can get quite large. I've seen some at 8" long before. Make sure the tank is at least 20 gallons for the clawed frogs.
If there's a small open spot in the back of the tank, it's likely that either of the frogs can find it and escape.
