Will PC6400 Memory work for a Dell Dimension 3000?
Hello:
I have a Dell Dimension 3000 that I wanted to add more memory to and I goofed and bought Pc6400 memory instead of Pc3200 which is in the motherboard now. I have a Socket 478 motherboard with an Intel P4 2.8ghz processor is the memory I bought compatiable? I would hate to install it and ruin my system.

absolutly not. PC3200 has a 184 pin connector and runs at 400mhz and is DDR. PC6400 is 240 pin connector and runs at 800mhz and is DDR2. Pretty much it couldnt get any worse. Just return the ram, and next time use Crucials memory scanner. That will tell you what kind you need.
