Memory Dell Poweredge
Ram capacity Restricted after os installation?

Hi everybody,
I have recently installed a server with a windows 2003 server standard edition, it shows me that i have 256 MB of memory while i have 4GO. When i start up the system i can see even in bios the 4GO but there is a message saying that the system is restricted to 256MB, can some one help me to change that setting?
ps: the server is Dell poweredge 2800 and i used the recovery and os original cd from the manufacturer.

There are several things that could cause this problem. You must have administrative access to complete these steps.

1. The memory is incorrectly seated or damaged. check that it is seated correctly. If this doesn't help, run the memory diagnostic tool. In Vista it is C:WindowsSystem32MdRes.exe. I don't know about 2003 server ed.

2. Memory capacity has been restricted in the registry. This has actually happened to me before. I don't know much about 2003 server ed., so I'll assume that you have msconfig.

Start>Run>msconfig
Click on the "Boot" tab.
Click advanced.
Make sure that the checkboxes beside "Number of processors" and "Maximum memory" are NOT selected.
Click the appropriate "OK" buttons, and reboot your computer when prompted.
