I'm wanting to add memory to increase the performance and speed of my computer, but have no idea what I'm shopping for. I have someone to put it in, but am trying to shop online as he suggested for the memory but there are so many different kinds. Can anyone help? I'm wanting to go to about 3GB or so, because I'm only at 1G right now. Below are my computer specifications. Thank you!!
Well you COULD go to crucial.com or I could just tell you that your computer takes up to 4GB of PC5300 DDR2-667MHz. I wouldn't recommend changing the RAM speed on a Dell, they can be finicky. My guess is that it takes it has only 2 slots and therefore you need a 2GB stick. You can get this from newegg.com for $45.
Add that to your 1GB and you should be fine.
Now for the video card, I need to know if your computer is the Minitower or the Slimline. If it's the Minitower, then I would recommend the following card:

If you have a Slimline, forget it. Dell managed to make the PCI-Express slots in that computer completely useless by only putting in a 250W power supply.
