I'd greatly appreciate help.
1.) I have two RAM slots that can only support a max of 1 GB, so does that mean I can only have 2 GB of RAM?
2.) "Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300" - so what store sells this (not online), and what should I look for? What's dual-channel memory?
3.) So I buy "DDR2 PC2-5300" ram? Or is there other Ram that I could buy?
4.) Should I upgrade from 512 MB to 2 GB? Big change?
5.) Tell me about "ECC" memory.
6.) Can I pull my old RAM out and insert new?
I'd TRULY be very grateful for input. I know it's kindly a lot, but I need this info. desperately.

1) The two slots support 1GB each with a max of 2GB total.
2) PC2-5300 is DDR2 667. Just enter a computer store like best buy or circuit city and ask for DDR2 667. If those fail then go to a computer store. Duel channel memory is memory modules that are sold in pairs to take use of both channels of some motherboards.
3) You should buy DDR2 667 as buying anything faster will just be a waste of money. The computer will slow the faster memory back down to what it can handle.
4) There is a decent performance boost especially if using your type of memory.
5) ECC memory uses codes to correct the contents when data becomes corrupted in memory. These modules are expensive and are only recommended for server use.
6) If updating form 512MB to 2GB then removing the old is a must. Leaving the old in and not knowing what kind of modules they are results in problems when purchasing new memory. It is recommended to completely replace the modules.
