Both of the ASRock mobo's, the 939Dual-SATA2 and the 939Dual-VSTA have PCI-e 16x slots in addition to a AGP slot. And the review of the 939Dual-SATA2 at Tom's Hardware was positive for such a unique combination mobo. In fact, the timing results of the AGP slot versus the PCI-e slot were so close that the board was considered somewhat of a marvel in design, and extremely unique in an industry that more often than not chooses to be on the safe side and go with the status quo, rather than try to be innovative. ASRock has done some other complex board combinations that are amazing feats of engineering, even if the technology wasn't as high performance as the standard 'safe' designs.
However, the 939 CPU is antiquated at best and should be your main concern. If you have access to both types of graphics cards, and they are comparable in performance, than I would highly recommend that you look into getting a AM2 motherboard. You can get one for around $40, and 1GB of DDR2 of memory is about the same. This allows you to spend most of your money on a good mid-range dual-core CPU. Then you can worry about upgrading your motherboard, graphics card and more RAM later.
