Using a AC fan to use it as a laptop cooler pad?
Last time i noticed someone using a AC fan as a desktop casing cooler fan, the graphic card on the computer fried. i'm not sure what happen but my high school physics says that the current from the AC motor induces current in the circuits of the graphic card's mainboard.
So, do you think it also applies when i use it as a cooling pad on a laptop ? will the laptop get fried the same way like the desktop did ?
Suggestions anyone ?

You probably didn't get all your info correctly. First of all, if the fan was getting its power from the motherboard, the graphics card or directly from one of the connectors of the PSU then it can't be an AC fan as the power supplied by the PSU, mobo or graphics card is direct current (DC). If the fan was connected to the mains then I would agree that the fan is an AC type.
Second, if the fan was drawing power from the graphics card then the graphics card might have fried because of the big current requirement of the fan compared to the standard graphics card fan which is smaler.
Now if you will be using a similar fan as a cooling pad on a laptop, where will you get the power from? If from the mains then the fan must be an AC type and it won't harm your laptop. If it's a DC type then it must be connected to the laptop through the USB port. If the fan's power requirement is too big, it could fry your USB port.
