Should I wipe the cream off my CPU heatsink?
I recently purchased a heat sink for my computer along with a thermal compound. When I opened the box I noticed there already is a white cream coating the base of the heat sink. My suspicion is that it is some type of thermal paste already on it.
Should I wipe this off for when I use this with the thermal compound I'm placing on top of the CPU, or should I leave the coating the heat sink came with on the bottom and refrain from using the tube of thermal compound I bought along with it?
For reference, it's a Thermaltake TR2 M21 CPU Cooler and the thermal compound I bought is a Céramique compound from Artic Silver.
