Can I use a PCTV card as a digital set top box?
I am planning to buy a PCI PCTV card for my computer. But my cable guy said I would require a set top box to see all the channels that I have ordered. Is this set top box necessary to view all the channels?
If they told you that you need a set top box to view all the channels you have ordered, then yes, you need the set top box. It's likely those additional channels are digital, and to view digital channels, as these are encoded by the cable company, and you need their box to decode them.
The PC TV tuner is for analog only.
