Is the NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 512MB 16X PCI Express a good graphics card?
I really need an upgrade and this was on a gaming computer but I just wanted to make sure.
In the grand scheme of video cards, this card sits in the upper 20% or so as far as performance goes. The GTS 250 can play any game out there, usually on nearly-maximum settings and 1600+ resolutions with a playable framerate. Here's a review that shows some of the actual numbers you can expect. Also, keep in mind that the GTS 250 takes a lot of power. It takes 22 watts idling, but at full 3D load it takes up to 141 watts. Make sure your power supply has at least 30 Amps on the +12v rail(s).
