I bought a new optical drive and it's sata but my motherboard has an IDE port for it. Is there some sort of adapter or do I need to order a new IDE optical drive? Thanks!
There are SATA drive to IDE interface adapters on Ebay - tons of them. Most are only a few bucks.
However, be very careful as to which one you get. I have ones that plug directly into the back of the SATA disk, and have the IDE and regular power connector on the back. Some come with cables, some claim to be both directions....
Look at the pictures of the auction, and make sure it has the two narrow SATA connectors on one side of the circuit board, and the IDE and power connectors on the other side. The board is usually rectangular, 3/4 inch by about 3 inches...
