I am looking at a couple firewire pci cards that are compatible with my Windows Vista.
One has two 6-pin ports ,and the other has a 4-pin and a 6-pin port.
Is there any advantage or occasion that I would use a 4pin port.
Also, I see some cards have USB ports also, ( combo ). I have a extra USB port on rear of computer , three used and two on front for when needed,so I probably don't need the extra USB's. Any opinions on cards?
Another question on PCI card, I saw somewhere, PCI card 32 bit and 64 bit can be interchanged. Is that true ?
The only advantage to having a 4 pin and 6 pin port is if you already have a device that specifically needs a 4 pin port. Otherwise (IMO) you'd be better off having two 6 pin ports and have an adapter cable on hand should you ever get a 4 pin device. The adapter cable would be like this:
