Is this the right power supply?
I recently got a 500w and tried it out on my computer. It didn't work because it was missing a connector that my motherboard needed.
I am now trying to buy the correct power supply power supply of newegg. My mobo needs one that can connect twice to it, the 24 pin connector of course, but also another small one next to the processor (the dimensions are 2x2, making it four holes)

That connector that you were missing is a P4 connector. The power supply from Newegg has that connector.
