I was given a Epson C42UX printer by a friend. I got it to work with my laptop on XP and USB 2.0 ports. I tried it on my old PC, which has XP with the older USB 1.0 ports. I can't get it to work with the old PC. Drivers loaded good, but still won't print. It will do a "print test page" one time, but still won't print anything from Word. Do I need to install a USB 2.0 pci card to get it to work? My friend had this same problem on his older PC with XP, also.
I'm using Word 2002. I will try updating drivers and see how it goes.
I don't think it's a USB 1.0 problem. I've heard from customers that they have problems printing from Word 2007 on a C42UX, but there have not been any patches for it. See if you can convert the document to PDF and print it from Acrobat Reader. If that works, then you have a Word 2007 software problem. All I can suggest is to uninstall the printer drivers and reinstall the newest ones downloaded from Epson.
