I have a toshiba laptop. This laptop has a Samsung 512mb DDR2 PC2-4300 (266MHz)
now i plan to add an additional memory module. but the stores here in the Philippines does not have any stock of the same brand and specs as the one i stated above.
my question is, i have two slots on my laptop for memory modules, 1 is currently used by the one stated above. will a different one work with my computer?
you can use any ram you want in a computer as long as its the same type (DDR2 in your case), the only problem with running two different sticks at different speeds is the faster one will be bottle necked to run at the speed of the slower one, or in a worst case scenario simply not boot.
It wont cause any damage to your computer just not be as fast as specified due to another being slower
