I'm a photographer working on a 13" Macbook Pro, and I'm looking to buy a monitor so I can edit on a larger screen when at home. I have the option of spending $100 on an older (but working) Apple Cinema Display, or $500 on a new Samsung monitor. I'm just wondering if anyone has an answer as to which is better suited to my needs? I'm looking for image quality, value, etc. Price is not so much an issue, but I could put the extra $400 towards Aperture 3, Magic Mouse, etc. Thanks!

For photography work, you want a higher-resolution screen. The old Cinema Display you linked to is 1680x1050 only. The Samsung is 1920x1080 (200,000 more pixels). I would go with the Samsung.
Heck, if you are really serious about doing photography work, why not get a 30-inch monitor that does 2560x1600? The macbook pro can drive one of those (though you will need to buy a miniDisplayPort-to-Dual-link-DVI adapter).
