What kind of sata hard drive should i get and how big for a gaming desktop?
What kind of sata hard drive should i get for my gaming desktop i will be making? And how big, that is fast.. My budget for the whole computer is $1000
For your budget, I wouldn't go for anything over 7200 RPM.
Go for Western Digital's Black Caviar at 1TB. They're reliable and fast, and at a good price, better than all equivalent models by other manufacturers (this is an opinion shared by many owners and online reviewers). If you ever need additional storage, buy a Caviar Green 1TB model (though make the Black your bootable drive).
If money weren't an issue, buying the Black with an SSD would be the way to go, though the technology is still developing and prices are still ridiculously high.
