It's an Acer 5600 series with a few soft or sticky spots on the keyboard. Yes, i know i can use a separate keyboard w/USB port (and i do sometimes). Yes, i know where to get the replacement keyboard. I would just like some information about how to do the replacement myself.
Alternately, is this the kind of thing i can get done at a legitimate local shop without sending my laptop to Taiwan and waiting 8-12 weeks? (Please don't suggest that i take it to CompUSA or BestBuy -- the children who work there don't know what they're doing.)
I have an Acer 3680 and just replaced the keyboard which still didn't solve the problem, but anywho I used a small flat screwdriver and oh so carefully pryed the cover between the screen and keyboard and the hinges to the screen (all one piece). Then there were two screws at the top of the keyboard then gently pry the keyboard loose and undo the cable, two clips on the side and one ontop of cable. Good Luck!
