How to hook my tv up to hdmi video but composite audio for surround sound?
I have a Vizio hdtv and I want to keep the HDMI video but run composite audio to my surround sound.
Is there a way to do this? I've tried everything and nothing worked.
My friend did the same thing when he brought his tv over and it worked fine, but he has a different brand so idk.
Just so you know composite is the yellow cord which is video.
Red and white, or RCAs, are stereo signals. If you want stereo sound use RCA cables.
Surround sound signals can only be sent digitally with HDMI, optical or coax. If your Blu-Ray/DVD player has 5.1 or 7.1 analog audio out you can send the individual signals to a receiver, but I don't think any TVs have 5.1 or 7.1 analog out.
