Ultra Ata Udma

How to get 1.5Gb/s transfer rate in SATA hdd?

How can i get the full speed, while i only get around 20MB/s during file transfering files between partitions in a single SATA hdd? Benchmark using HD Tune v2.55 gave me average transfer rate around 42-45 MB/s and burst rate at 110-115MB/s... So,is this normal, or am i missing a SATA controller of some sort?

Spec: Maxtor Diamond 10 (6B160M0 @ 160GB; 8MB cache) + 1 other ide HDD on master, Windows XP Pro sp3, Pentium 4 @ 2.8GHz..

Note that the ide hdd also installed with XP,but not dual boot. i plug out the ide when running XP on the sata hdd. HD Tune shows my sata hdd's active mode is "UDMA Mode 5 (Ultra ATA/100)" instead of Sata150. Pls help

it does not only depend on your sata... connection.. but also on the hard drive your operating system ... your RAM and processor...

and another factor is the number of files you transfer
when i transfer a folder with the size of 2GB and with 1000 files in it i get about 7-14 MB/sec

but transferring a single file with the size of 700MB i can transfer it in less than 5 seconds about 200MB/sec
